The Best Part About Twitters Trending Topics

When it comes to social platforms, it’s best to have a broad audience. But how do you create that social reach? When a new thing breaks out, I’m prone to get excited. I’m going to post about it, and maybe a few people will follow it. I’ve never been one for being in the minority. I think that people often get swept up by the “new” and forget about the old. People who are obsessed with the new, forget the old. I don’t like that. So I try to be as subtle and as careful as possible with my tweets. I don’t use my “fast lane”. I don’t jump on Twitter all of a sudden, I read it, then I delete it. I try to stay very objective and stay on top of everything. There’s a lot of other things that could be done besides tweeting about something that’s happening. So I create a lot of content on a regular basis. It’s much easier to read on my phone that a different thing. But, more importantly, it’s a lot harder to look at your iPhone without looking at your phone. I think a lot of people go to Twitter too and check out some tweets and read some comment because it’s there. But, if your Facebook feed is a story, it’s over. It’s impossible for you to have someone read your posts without having an eyeball on your face. For example, when the new iPhone 8 was announced, I didn’t even see the Apple’s teaser about it. There was no word about it on the screen. It was like a new version of Snapchat, an all-new feature. Even though Snapchat made it easier to share photos without having to tap the screen, it didn’t create the same level of attention. So if you do the same thing, the same way you would do on Twitter without any context on what it means, you will never take advantage of the platform. In my eyes, the biggest hurdle is that you have to use social to gain the attention of a user first. And when that’s not an option, the best way to do that is to not post. Don’t answer questions. Don’t comment. Don’t like something. Delete it. To me, what’s really important is that people see the value in it, not what the value is of using it.
