The Power of an Email List

The Power of an Email List

I’ve been using an email list service for the past few months. I’ve had 500-1000 subscribers for the newsletters and the RT @mentions. I’ve been getting a large email feed of these from Techmeme, FeedBurner, and Bloglines.

These feeds are largely junk. But I’m trying to transform them into something useful. I’ve collected over 100,000 feed references from the various feed readers and feed aggregators I use. I’ve also been following 25 feeds for the past few days.

I’ve been using this as my primary feed source for quite some time. I’ve been focusing on the companies in my feed that I invest in, as well as the companies in the feed that I’m following. I’ve also been improving my FeedBurner “feed reader” read by a significant amount.

I’ve decided to keep using the FeedBurner service and feeding them my “feed reference” information, as well as any comments, feedback, and ideas that I’ve had for their companies. This way, I’ll have a better indication of what feeds are like when I look at the stuff I’m following.

If you want to see what feeds look like, take a look at my feed reference feed.
